[Herma Parking Building]

헤르마 주차장은 신도시의 주차 전용 건축물이 도시 경관을 저해하는 기능 중심 시설로 전락하는 현실에 대응하여, '주차장 같지 않은 주차장'을 통해 건축적 가치를 회복시키고자 했다. 이번 인터뷰에서는 8:2라는 주차장 용도 제한 속에서도 상가 면적의 효율성을 극대화하는 동시에, 폴리카보네이트의 굴절성과 900여 개의 스테인리스 패턴을 활용해 외피를 하나의 통합된 예술적 대상으로 전환한 과정을 다뤘다. 각기 다른 각도로 배치된 삼각형 유닛이 빛에 따라 유동적인 이미지를 발산하며, 기능 시설을 도시적 오브제로 재정의하는 조호건축만의 실험적 접근을 담았다.

We sought to restore architectural value through a 'non-parking-like parking building,' responding to the reality where such facilities in new cities often diminish the urban landscape as mere functional structures. This interview explores the process of maximizing commercial efficiency within the 8:2 legal ratio while transforming the building's skin into a unified artistic object using the refractive properties of polycarbonate and over 900 unique stainless steel patterns. The film captures our experimental approach to redefining a functional facility into an urban object, featuring a facade of triangular units arranged at varying angles that emit a fluid image in response to changing light.
