‘극지연구소 도서관’은 남·북극 연구 실험실을 도서관으로 전환한 리모델링 프로젝트다. 이 도서관은 쇄빙선의 역동성에서 영감을 얻은 강렬한 내부 공간을 선보인다. 공간적 흥미를 극대화하기 위해 바닥, 벽, 그리고 캐노피는 동일한 디자인 언어로 구축되었다. 이 공간은 방문객 접견실, 카페테리아, 그리고 회의실에 이르기까지 폭넓은 활용 가능성을 품고 있다.

The ‘Breaking ICES KOPRI Library’ is a renovation project, converting the north/south pole research laboratory to a library. The library presents a charismatic interior inspired by the icebreaker’s dynamism. In order to maximize the volumetric excitement, the floor, wall, and canopy were built with identical designs. The space embraces a wide range of possibilities of becoming a visitor’s reception, cafeteria, and conference chamber.
